About us

We are Fiona and Nico de Vet, with our two children Ronja and Ivan – a family with international roots and a great passion for farming.

Fiona grew up on a ranch in the Chilcotin region of British Columbia (Canada). Nico comes from the Wiesental valley in Germany, where he helped out on the farm from a very young age. In 2010, he moved permanently to Canada, where we ran several ranches together and started our family. Today, our two children are also part of our adventure: Ronja (12), who loves animals with great enthusiasm and helps out wherever she can, and Ivan (9), who joins in with plenty of energy and curiosity. Despite many fulfilling years in Canada, the desire to return to Switzerland one day always remained alive. The fact that this dream has now become a reality fills us with great joy.

With the Obere Klus, a new chapter in our lives begins.

Welcome to Oberen Klus

Our animals spend the whole summer on the lush, rolling pastures of Obere Klus. The calves are reared within the herd alongside their mothers (suckler cow system). We adhere to the BTS/RAUS standard: particularly animal-friendly housing with daily access to outdoor areas in winter and 24-hour access to pasture in summer. Our cows, calves and cattle are fed on grass and receive no additional concentrated feed.

The health of our animals is very important to us, which is why we insist on impeccable barn hygiene, enabling us to keep the use of medication to an absolute minimum.

    Our cows and cattle

    Our cows are medium-framed beef cattle breeds that are ideally suited for grazing on pastureland due to their excellent forage utilization. They are easy to manage and are primarily used for the production of weanlings ready for slaughter (+Natura Beef+), as well as for the production of replacement heifers for beef cattle fattening (Swiss Prim Beef). Noteworthy features include the high-quality carcasses with excellent meat yield, as well as the meat’s flavor and fine-grained texture.

    Our suckler herd consists of Angus, Aubrac, South Tyrolean Grey, and F1/Limousin breeds, all of which are bred with our Limousin bull.

     Farm «Obere Klus»

    Obere Klus is located at an elevation of 444 meters above sea level and can be reached via Aesch. Obere Klus is a place steeped in history that was mentioned in early writings. It is believed that ancient Roman settlements once existed here, as well as early iron ore mining. It lies directly on the Burgengratweg trail, which connects the ruins of Münchsberg to Pfeffingen, and at the source of the Klusbach stream. Obere Klus is also mentioned in the book “Orte der Kraft” (Places of Power) by Blanche Merz. The place is a wonderful oasis to recharge your batteries in these hectic times.

    Fiona and Nico de Vet took over the farm in 2026 and continue to run it in the spirit and style of Daniela Tschaggelar. Daniela Tschaggelar managed the farm from 2013 until early 2026. In addition to the mother cows and their calves, the farm is also home to llamas and alpacas used for animal-assisted therapy and work—Kluser Llamas—as well as chickens, cats, ponies, donkeys, and a dog.

    Packaging and Price

    CHF 34.-/kg

    After aging for about 4 weeks, the meat is packaged in portions for two people, vacuum-sealed, and labeled.

    Ground meat, ragout, and sliced meat are packaged in 500-gram portions.

    Ordering our meat is easy:

    1. Fill out the online form below and submit it.
    2. You will receive a confirmation email from us.
    3. We will let you know as soon as the meat is ready for pickup.
    4. Packages are ready for pickup approximately 4 weeks after slaughter.

    Orders are processed in the order they are received, and we operate on a “first come, first served” basis.
